The Minimum Spanner Problem on Butterfly Graphs

چکیده
Given a connected graph G, a spanning subgraph G' of G is called a t-spanner if every pair of two adjacent vertices in G has a distance of at most t in G! A t-spanner of a graph G is minimum if it contains minimum number of edges among all t-spanners of G. Finding minimum spanners for general graphs is rather difzcult. Most of previous results were obtained for some particular graphs, e.g., butterfly graphs, cube-connected cycles, de Bruijn graphs, Kautz graphs, complete bipartite graphs, and permutation graphs. The butterfly graphs were originally introduced as the underlying graphs of FFT networks which can perform the fast Fourier transform (FFT) very eficiently. In this paper, we successfully construct most of the minimum t-spanners for the k-aiy r-dimensional butterfly graphs for 2 I tI 6 and t = 8.

Restrictions of Minimum Spanner Problems
A t-spanner of a graph G is a spanning subgraph H such that the distance between any two vertices in H is at most t times their distance in G. Spanners arise in the context of approximating the original graph with a sparse subgraph (Peleg, D., and Scha ffer, A. A. (1989), J. Graph. Theory 13 (1), 99 116). The MINIMUM t-SPANNER problem seeks to find a t-spanner with the minimum number of edges f...
متن کاملTree Spanners, Cayley Graphs, and Diametrically Uniform Graphs
In line with symmetrical graphs such as Cayley graphs and vertex transitive graphs, we introduce a new class of symmetrical graphs called diametrically uniform graphs. The class of diametrically uniform graphs includes vertex transitive graphs and hence Cayley graphs. A tree t-spanner of graph G is a spanning tree T in which the distance between every pair of vertices is at most t times their d...

For any fixed parameter , a –spanner of a graph is a spanning subgraph in which the distance between every pair of vertices is at most times their distance in . A minimum –spanner is a –spanner with minimum total edge weight or, in unweighted graphs, minimum number of edges. General –spanners and their variants have multiple applications in the field of communication networks, distributed syste...
متن کاملTree t-spanners in outerplanar graphs via supply demand partition
A tree t-spanner of an unweighted graph G is a spanning tree T such that for every two vertices their distance in T is at most t times their distance in G. Given an unweighted graph G and a positive integer t as input, the tree t-spanner problem is to compute a tree t-spanner of G if one exists. This decision problem is known to be NP-complete even in the restricted class of unweighted planar g...

A minimum t-spanner is a t-spanner with minimum total edge weight or, in unweighted graphs, minimum number of edges. In this paper, we prove the AlP-hardness of finding minimum t-spanners for planar weighted g...
